The body work on this Motorcycle is Sleek and Smooth!
At the heart of RSS lies the patented Rotrex (C15-60) centrifugal supercharger unit. This supercharger provides the highest levels of efficiency and performance in a compact, light weight unit. This unit weights only 6.4 lbs. and is no larger than a typical small car alternator. Combined are a high efficiency, highly developed “Turbo” centrifugal compressor section, mated to a patented planetary roller drive mechanism. This drive mechanism provides an extremely high step-up ratio of 12.7/1 as well as very low noise output, low wear and excellent reliability.
RSS is designed to provide boost upon rider demand. A special bypass valve is employed to recirculate unneeded air back into the compressor during certain operating ranges such as idle, cruise and deceleration, this effectively disconnects and unloads the supercharger, thus reducing parasitic drag and increasing engine efficiency. In this mode, the engine operates as it’s stock normally aspirated self.
Under acceleration the bypass valve closes allowing compressor air to pressurize the intake plenum. The Rotrex supercharger delivers air in proportion to it’s driven speed. As engine speed increases the supercharger air output increases proportionally. This strategy is responsible for the extraordinarily smooth and linear power delivery. Power increases in proportion to engine RPM all the way to redline.
RSS enables efficient engine operation with stock emission output levels. Due to the relatively low boost levels of the RSS and low intake charge temperature increase relative to other supercharger types, an intake charge intercooler is eliminated, contributing to a lighter and more compact system.

Supercharged American Motorcycle
American sport bike enthusiasts' affinities often run Italian and Japanese. From an American perspective, Buell has also entered the mix and continues to gain momentum with the Helicon-powered 1125R, as well as the air-cooled Harley-Davidson powered variants. But, many demand a more exotic and exclusive American superbike... that "Bimota" of America. Now, after significant development, the American Roehr 1250sc has finally pasted EPA approval and is ready for delivery.
We had the chance to meet with the creator, Walter Roehrich, who has been building bikes as a labor of love for over 15 years. You can learn more about Roehrich in our June/July 2009 issue of Ultimate MotorCycling magazine, and by listening to the radio broadcast link below. But, because we had a chance to ride the motorcycle, we wanted to bring it to you right away.
The Roehr 1250sc is built around the modern, Harley-Davison Revolution engine from the V-Rod. This motor was originally developed by Porsche and Harley engineers, around the VR-1000 Superbike race effort. The liquid cooled, double overhead cam, internally counterbalanced 60-degree V-twin (not the H-D traditional 45-degree) engine has a displacement of 1250cc (up from the original 1130cc when introduced in 2001). But, what is so very special about the Roehr engine is that it is supercharged.
Unlike a turbocharger, which may have some lag due to the required turbo "spool-up" time, the Roehr supercharger runs directly off the water pump drive shaft, which has been replaced by an electric air compressor. The result is the healthy production of broad, linear power. On paper, this engine is at the heart of what promises to be the most powerful American sport bike.
After extensive development and testing, the Roehr puts out a claimed 180 hp @ 9500 rpm and 115 ft/lbs of torque at 7500 rpm. To put this in perspective, the standard V-Rod claims only 84 ft/lbs, the Ducati 1098 claims 85 ft/lbs, and the Destroyer (Harley's 6.7 second drag-bike) 97 ft/lbs.
"I have been building bikes for over 15 years and now the culmination of my dreams is about one month away from final street legal approval," Roehrich says. We can't help but be distracted by the 2009 Roehr 1250sc as Walter tosses us the keys for a first ride. Produced in limited numbers, this is a true American exotic with top-shelf European appointments including Brembo, Ohlins, Marchesini, and Akrapovic.
The motor fires instantaneously and idles with a refined and tamed rumble. After familiarizing myself with controls and gauges, the feel is familiar to other exotics we have ridden. The reach to the bars places you in forward and ready-to-sport-ride position. The seat is a bit wide but once on the pegs your legs tuck-in nicely for the anticipated speed rush.
The engine response from the long-throw Roehr throttle is flawless. It runs from just off-idle straight to redline, and bounces off the rev-limiter before you know it. It is in its powerband most of the time as it is so very wide. Deceptive as it may be, looking down at the speedometer tells the true story; this is one fast machine.
Around corners the 1250sc steers with monorail like precision; at 425 pounds dry, it is not a light bike, but it is well balanced. The broad power makes it easy to run it hard out of the corners, almost regardless of gear selection. The bike handles the tight stuff just fine, but gives some indication that she wants to stretch her legs and might prefer some faster sweepers and longer acceleration runs. The Brembo brakes perform as well as you'd expect. The back-torque limiting clutch is most "slippery" while downshifting from higher speeds with higher forces.
Unfortunately, our ride in Southern California was brief and our appetites for an extended ride in a wide variety of circumstances is forthcoming. For more information on the Roehr now please listen to our live radio broadcast with Walter Roehrich on the Motorcycle Radio Network.

Roehr eSuperBike
Company Roehr, the American manufacturer, well known for his model of motorcycle with engine 1250ss 180 hp (This, incidentally, the most powerful American sports bikes), is ready to present the line of his electric motorcycles.
It is expected that the presentation will be held before the end of the summer.
Roehr electric bikes
“We intend to offer customers three versions of the motorbike eRoehr – entry-level bike called eSuperSport at a price of 16,965 dollars, motorcycle racing civilian eSuperBike at a price of 27,595 dollars, and a racing version of this bike called eSuperBike RR at a price of 34 $ 495 , said Walter Roehrich, founder of brand Roehr Motorcycles.
Roehr eSupersport
“We plan to move a little further and begin racing series TTXGP, it is true, we repeatedly had to postpone the launch for several reasons, of a technical nature, so a little behind schedule,” – he added.
Motorcycle eSuperSport will have one electric motor, and will develop power equivalent to 48 hp And Roehr eSuperBike will be two of the motor and power, respectively, with 96 hp
We use large cylindrical lithium-iron battery with a capacity of 6 kW / h for eSuperSport to 9,6 kW / h for eSuperBike.
In comparison with their future competitors, motorcycles Mission One and MotoCzysz C1, eSuperBike from Roehr makes quite a favorable impression. It will be the most powerful in terms of torque, well, and the price he has to judge according to the company’s founder will be much more competitive – 34,5 thousand dollars compared to 69,000 for the Mission One and hundred thousand for MotoCzysz C1.
However, two other important parameters of eSuperBike Roehr yields and strong – firstly, it weighs much as 227 kg, but MotoCzysz – only 158. So the maximum power is not too strong side of the bike Roehr – only 96 hp compared with 140 by a Mission One and two hundred at C1.
Sports bike enthusiasts all over the world often had to turn to the Japanese or the Italians manufacturers to quench their thirst for the ultimate sports bike. Well, the choices are going to get complicated with the introduction of the 2010 Roehr 1250sc. It is an American designed and American made, V-twin super bike. The bike is the result of sound engineering and exquisite craftsmanship resulting in high quality, and outstanding performance. The Roehr 1250sc is as American as the Corvette ZR1 or the Shelby GT500 in its nature and performance.
2010 Roehr 1250sc
The Roehr superbike is powered by the same, 1250cc V-twin engine that powers the Harley-Davidson V-rod. Even though the V-rod’s engine is heavy and made specially for cruising, Walter Roehr, the companies founder believed that it was the right engine for his dream project. This engine was originally conceived as a sports bike engine. It was jointly developed by German experts Porsche AG and Harley Davidson. It combines classic American cruiser characteristics with the cutting edge engineering prowess. It was this robust nature of the engine that allows it to handle high amount of power that sealed the deal for Roehr.
The engine alone weighs 100 pounds, and adding that to a 300 pound bike calls for some more muscle from the part of the engine to offset the extra weight. Roehr addressed the problem by adding what he calls ‘Roehr Supercharging System’. It consists of a Rotrex C 15-60, centrifugal-supercharging unit that weighs just 6.4 pounds, (and is just as large as an alternator) to force air into the engine. An extremely high set-up ratio was possible by employing a patented roller-drive mechanism. The system employs a bypass valve which can re-circulate air back to the compressor, thus reducing the load on the engine. The valve opens when the bike is idling, cruising or decelerating, making the engine act like a naturally aspirated unit. At the time of acceleration, the valve closes and the compressor forces air inside the cylinder to provide the extra boost needed. Roehr has designed a mechanism to regulate the boost provided by the supercharger proportional to the engine speed. This system eliminates the potentially dangerous sudden surge of power normally associated with forced induction engines. The bike does not need an inter-cooler as the supercharger unit is mild.
The dynamometer shows a flat torque curve and a linearly rising power curve that tops at 165 horsepower. The bike has enormous performance to offer as long as the engine stays in the right rev band. The way in which the supercharged engine delivers power makes it easy to ride on normal roads. The 1250sc also features a bi-metallic framework made by joining two different metal alloys to provide the bike a degree of controlled flex, which improves the feedback under corner curving.
The bike uses Brembo brakes and Ohlin suspension parts that give it a purposeful handling in the track. The bike shares quite a few styling cues from Ducati and Yamaha. The bike uses an exhaust system sourced from the Yamaha R1. The chassis setup and ergonomics are similar to the ones used by Ducati in their bikes. Therefore, the Roehr feels like a Ducati on the track, but the handling is spoiled to a large extend by the heavy weight of the bike. The stock tires are a let down and does not provide enough traction to push the bike’s chassis to its limits.
The Roehr 1250sc is an excellent superbike with a distinctive character. Its appeal lies in its Ducati inspired design and the supercharged engine. Even though, the extra weight of the engine affects the low-speed handling, it still handles well at high speed. Overall, the Roehr is a brilliant package.
